The training courses for youth workers and teachers, will provide them with skills in delivering youth exchanges and learning interventions aimed at conflict resolution or conflict prevention, in the context of relations between communities on the island of Ireland.
Participation is open to schools and youth organizations in Northern Ireland and the border counties; Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Monaghan, Cavan and Louth.
The training course is accredited (Level 3) by the Northern Ireland Open College Network, and delivered by NcompasS. It takes place over 4 residential weekends (2 North/2 South) covering 4 units: Understanding Exchange Programmes, Intercultural Learning, Implementing Exchange Programmes and ICT & Exchange Programmes. (Implementing Exchanges includes carrying out an exchange)
Sixteen teachers & youth workers (12 South/4 North) completed the course in 2003-04.
The 2004-05 course begins in November 2004. The deadline for applications was October 15th. 'Thirteen participants have enrolled for the course running 2004-05'.
