Final Opportunity for Grants under NcompasS Thematic Projects Strand

Are you interested in carrying out cross border and cross community activities which benefit young people over the next few months?

Due to the high level of interest in this activity Ncompass is making available additional funding for Thematic Projects. If your group of young people, teachers or youth workers has an idea for an activity with a partner that will promote the aims of Peace and Reconciliation then have a look at this scheme.

Who is eligible?
Groups of young people or those who work with them eg teachers / youth workers can apply. You will need to be based in Northern Ireland or the border region of Ireland i.e. counties Louth, Monaghan, Cavan, Leitrim, Sligo and Donegal. National organisations which operate in these areas may also apply.

What do you need to do?
Your application needs to be in by June 15th and you need to be able to complete activities by the end of October 2007.

Who will get priority?
Groups working on a cross border, cross community basis which provide opportunities to develop positive relations between groups from different backgrounds, will get priority. The extent to which they address the aims of NcompasS and the programme for Peace and Reconciliation will determine the ranking given by the selection committee.

When will you know?
The outcome of the selection committee will be available by June 30th. Activities should be set to run after this date.

How much is available?
Grants will generally be at the level of Euro1,500/£1,000 for each partner. This reflects the short timeframe for these projects.

However consideration will be given to proposals for funding up to a max of Euro2750/£1,950 which involve considerable activity that is likely to have a greater impact on Peace and Reconciliation.

Training Course: Wednesday 31st January 2007 - There are a few places available for teachers from Northern Ireland and Donegal, Sligo Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth .

Student Placements: Wednesday 28th February 2007 – Grants for cross border placements for student teachers and youth workers are available to colleges.
